Scotland 2008 -- Strome Castle ruins. Strome Castle was dominated by the fluctuations of royal favour and bitter clan rivalries between the MacDonalds of Glengarry and the Mackenzies of Kintail.First built in the early 15th century, the castle was extended, altered and repaired many times. It was finally blown up in 1602.
